I know that if I asked 10 gym-goers what exercise they would do for effective fast weight loss they would all say the same thing – the answer is inevitable – they’ll tell you to step on the treadmill or the stair climber or the stationary bike and punch out a minimum of 30 minutes monotonous (understatement – very very dull!) low-medium intensity exercise. Not just once per week, yip – 3-5 times per week. Cool! And get this – more is better; if they could they would.
Why do people believe that this is an effective fast weight loss method? – Because the so-called industry experts tell us so that’s why. It has been, and continues to be, the recommendation for effective fast weight loss ever since I can remember. You know the score, get your heart rate in the target zone and stay there for 30 minutes or so several times per week.
To be honest I never got this. I never did it – I get bored too easily and the thought of running nowhere fast on a treadmill is not my idea of fun. As a result, I’d always done things differently – and I’m here to tell you that there is a better way!
Don’t get me wrong, you will burn some calories running on the treadmill; but – and it’s a big but – you won’t make a complete transformation of your body with this type of exercise alone. In reality, this type of aerobic exercise can be actually counterproductive to being an effective fast weight loss solution.

I know this will be painful for some of you (just think about all that wasted time on the treadmill) but listen carefully. Low intensity exercise over prolonged periods uses stored body fat during the workout. Not bad, eh? Not quite – this type of exercise programs your body to create more body fat once the training has been completed. Why does it do this? – so it can burn the fat next time around!
And here’s something else. When you do this low resistance exercise frequently you condition you cardio system to be efficient. This might sound okay on the surface, but in reality, your organs actually reduce their capacity for work – this can, unfortunately, reduce their ability to handle stress!
You need to challenge and stretch your body to increase its capacity – so that it becomes stronger and has the ability to handle stress better.
Wanna rev up your metabolism, burn fat and create effective fast weight loss? You need to add lean muscle to your body through high intensity resistance training. It works! And it works quickly. It will create transformational results in the shortest possible time.
You will get stronger – you will build lean muscle – you will literally become a fat burning machine.
Let’s turn to the science….. assume you are consuming the exact amount of calories you need to maintain you current weight – but you are also adding that marvelous lean muscle through high intensity resistance training….you will now need to use some of those calories to feed the new muscle, and by magic you create a calorie deficit.
And that’s not all. Stimulating your body with this resistance training will call upon your stored body fat for energy during the rest – repair – growth period. It really is an effective fast weight loss strategy – even when you are resting.
Conducted properly, high intensity resistance training actually increases the capacity of both your heart and your lungs for work. This makes your body more resistance to cardio problems that affect a lot of people.
But I have the best bit to the last, and here it is…..you don’t have to spend hours down the gym to get the benefits. In fact you can create a lean, strong and healthy body with workouts lasting 20-30 minutes 2-3 times per week. How cool is that?
So not only will you look great and create the associated health benefits, but you will also have more time to do the things in life that you really want to do.
