From the outset Rob (our author) is clear – don’t do what 95% of the populations does – low intensity cardio training for 30+ minutes. It does not work. Instead, Rob states that effective fat burning occurs through high intensity resistance training or metabolic resistance training. Not only is this type of training more effective in burning fat, it also reduces the amount of time you need to exercise .
By adding lean muscle (through resistance training) you’re increasing your metabolic rate by about 50 calories per pound of muscle every hour! Useful to know. The body must work harder to maintain muscle tissue that it does to maintain fat. More muscle means more calories burned 24-7.
No long cardio sessions in this program! Rob’s workouts
- involve resistance training (through weights or simply using your own bodyweight for resistance),
- can be completed in as little as 20-30 minutes, and
- are repeated 2-3 times per week.
The primary focus is on performing a full body workout using compound exercises (i.e. use more than one body part) – each exercise is performed slowly to maximise the impact (7-10 seconds per rep). The result is that you only have to do one set per exercise – this means quick workouts. The objective is to create lean muscle mass to fire up your metabolism.
The exercises and workouts are described in detail with extensive use of photos. are utilised to explain the movements. It doesn’t matter if you arte just a beginner, at intermediate level, or even advanced – there is a workout plan included.
